As you have seen from previous topics about physical wellbeing, it has different tools and therefor many recommended books that I’ll share 5 of them for your consideration to add to your reading list and your application to the information you’ll learn from them to see an improvement in your physical wellbeing

This book is about understanding habits in general, what they are, how they are formed and how they work.

Physical wellbeing, as we agreed, is all about adopting healthful habits like exercise, eating healthy, sleeping right, maintaining good posture, and following safety guidelines.

You’ll learn in this book:
    make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy);
    overcome a lack of motivation and willpower;
    design your environment to make success easier;
    get back on track when you fall off course;
…and much more.

When to read it: You read this book if you’re having troubles with installing or keeping good habits in place or can’t get rid of a bad one.

If you’re controlling your habits fine, then no need to read this book, at least not now, and you can move to the other books.

This book is about nutrition and it’s role in your life. This is an amazing book that busts couple of myths about certain types of food and habits, and their relation to obesity and being fat.

  • What roles do exercise and genetics play in our weight?
  • What foods should we eat, and what foods should we avoid?
  • The bad nutritional science of the last century
  • The good science that has been ignored

When to read it: When you have confusion about good and bad nutrition or where is the truth about good nutrition for the sake of your physical wellbeing

It’s persuasive, straightforward, and practical, and is an essential guide to nutrition and weight management.

This book has literally changed my mind about the world of nutrition and the misleading media around it.

Purpose of this book: Learning about Nutrition and Movement

This is one of the interesting books that talks about the Nutrition and Exercise tools with more focus on the nutrition one.

It’s an amazing book because it talks about a phenomenon that you and I are seeing every day. Most French women are not fat, yet they have all the sweetest deserts in the world.

You’ll learn in this book:

  • The French Paradox
  • How to eat what you want
  • How to have a healthy day
  • Non-diet and HEALTHY recipes to cook at home
  • Growing healthy ingredients at home

When to read it: If you are the type of persons who like to eat and don’t like the idea of depriving yourself from the delicious food around you or if you’re the type of persons who feel guilt after gaining weight in holidays or vacations.

It’s a fabulous book and you’ll truly connect with the author specially if you’re listening to the audiobook version like I did.

You’ll learn in this book:

  • Amazing case studies

When to read it: When you don’t have a better understanding about the relation between exercise and mental wellbeing

5- The Power of When

Purpose of this book: Better Sleeping

It’s time to sleep now, and no one is going to reveal some seriously amazing insights about sleeping but Dr. Michael Breus and his book “The Power Of When”.

You’ll learn in this book:

  • First, you’ll define your chronotype whether you are a lion, a bear, a dolphin, or a wolf based on a survey you can take called “The Power Of When Quiz”  Then the remaining of the book will discuss everything you need to know about your chronotype regarding:
  • Sleeping time, and duration
  • Best times to work
  • Optimum creativity and productivity times
  • Best time to exercise and type of exercise

When to read it: If you want to understand the best timing and duration not just of your sleep, but also for your work, productivity, coffee, sex, and others.

Next Actions you can do today to begin your physical wellbeing improvement is as follows:

1- Identify Your Level

Before you can begin your journey, you need to know where you are right now, and for that you can use the general assessment question mentioned before to identify your current level:

On a scale from 0-10, 0 being low, and 10 being highest, how would you rank your physical wellbeing today?

2- Identify Which Book You Need

Now that you have your current rank for your physical wellbeing, now it’s time to check which book of the above is the right one for you.

  • Is your problem with forming habits, then the book you need is Atomic Habits
  • Is your problem with understanding what good nutrition is? then the book you need is Why We Get Fat
  • Is your problem with guilt or deprivation of the food you want? then the book you need is French Women Don’t Get Fat
  • Is your problem with understanding the importance of exercise to your daily activities and mental wellbeing? then the book you need is Spark
  • Is your problem with sleeping times, duration, etc? then the book you need is The Power Of When

3- Create a Project

Perfect!! You have decided which book to read to improve your physical wellbeing, and now it’s time to create a project to finish it.

Just head over to your projects list in your ToDo list or system and add a project like the one below:

Finish the book Why We Get Fat. You can change the name of the book as per your decision above.

4- Read and Take Notes

Amazing job so far!

You have your level, chosen the book to start with, and added it to your projects list. Now it’s time to actually read the book as per your project plan (5 pages daily or a chapter weekly, etc)

While reading, you have to take notes that may interest you. Notes that you can start applying and including in your life.

Just reading isn’t enough to see change in your physical wellbeing. Reading is informing, but Applying is transforming.
